Last week was primarily focused on catching Striped Marlin, along with Sailfish, Wahoo, Dorado, and a few Blue Marlin. This stretch of coastline is alive with stories from the past and anticipation for tales of the future. Each boat, each crew member, etches another memory not only into the minds of the visitors but also into those of the captains and crew members who are briefly part of their world. And as each evening paints the sky with shades of a day well done, the adventure lingers in the minds of those who spent that day, dreaming of what the next cast might bring, another legend that might come to life.
This is paradise, a garden of Eden, and the fishing is better than most anywhere in the world, with beautiful warm water temperatures in the mid-80s and even higher air temperatures… This was precisely what those escaping from colder, harsher weather had desired.

The 28-foot Uniflite, “ANDREA,” managed by Captain Fernando and Mate Super Mario, welcomed guests Hannah Morales and Pedro Gonzalez aboard as they headed to the Los Arcos Spot for a fishing trip. The anglers successfully caught and released one 110-pound Striped Marlin using a Ballyhoo, along with six Dorado weighing between 12 and 14 pounds, which they caught using lures and bait.
Clients Chantel Ledbetter, Clint Ledbetter, Matt Duarte, and Nikki Ledbetter embarked on an exciting adventure aboard the “ADRIANA,” a 28-foot Uniflite captained by the talented Captain Frank and skilled Mate Arturo. They journeyed to the Golden Gate Bank, known for its abundant sea life, where their luck hit the roof. They caught and released one 100-pound Striped Marlin, and one 60-pound Sailfish, plus they caught one Dorado, using lures on all at the Golden Gate Bank. What a thrilling day they had on the water!

Captain Ray Winkler and Mate Jesus Winkler enjoy fishing. So when their group from Phoenix, AZ, BJ Osterberger, Nicholas Konetzke, Brandon Trandai, Luke He, and Thomas Topalis, joined them aboard the 31-foot Bertram, the “LA BRISA,” they were ready to have a
great day! And they did. The boat was filled with tales of fishing catches, triumphs, and pursuits, as they laughed and joked the time away. They did catch a 25-pound Wahoo on a Curry at the La Brecha, but they came away having had a wonderful time.
Amy and Keith Casseri, an adventurous couple from Landrum, South Carolina, enjoyed an exhilarating fishing experience aboard the “TRACY ANN,” a 31-foot Bertram. Under the expert guidance of Captain Fernando and Mate TracyAnn Raul Leal, their day on the water was nothing short of spectacular.
At the San Jaime, they battled a majestic 120-pound Striped Marlin, which they caught and released using curry bait, a testament to their angling skills. Their excitement didn’t stop there; at the vibrant Los Arcos Spot, they reeled in three stunning Dorado, each weighing up to 12 pounds, using colorful feathers that flickered enticingly in the water.
The highlight of their adventure came, however, when they hooked a magnificent Blue Marlin, weighing between 180 and 190 pounds. Once again, they used curry bait, and after an intense fight, they successfully released this majestic creature back into the deep at the San Jaime Bank, leaving them with unforgettable memories of their time with the Pisces captain and mate.

On the 42-foot Cabo Flybridge, the “CALIENTE,” Captain Jaime Gonzalez and Mate Silverio were off to have Jaime’s day of rest on the water. He headed outside the Lighthouse to see what he could find, and he hit the jackpot, big time! He caught four Striped Marlin in the 80-pound range on caballito, one 150-pound Blue Marlin on a green, blue, and black lure, and a 45-pound Wahoo on an orange lure, and all were taken outside the Lighthouse.
“TRACY ANN,” a 31-foot Bertram, captained by Julio Castro and TracyAnn Raul Leal, ran to the San Jaime with a few anglers from Dallas, Texas — Dave Smith, GT Mason, and Tommy Tarpley. They caught and released a 120-pound Striped Marlin on caballito and three Yellowfin Tuna to 20 pounds on bait and lures, all at the San Jaime Bank.

P “RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, Captain Abel at the Helm and Mates Ninja and Niko at the cockpit, enjoyed meeting Rafael Castro and Theodore Marsella, their anglers for the day. They were enthusiastic and eager to get underway. Captain Abel decided their best shot would be to head to the Lighthouse for tuna, and their plan worked. Almost every hour, on the hour, they caught a Yellowfin Tuna, seven in all, weighing from 15 to 60 pounds on bait, lures, and the Kite outside the Lighthouse.
P As morning sunlight rippled across the calm surface, the radio was abuzz with reports of marlin and tuna breaking the surface. The “TIBURON,” a 31-foot Bertram, heard reports of marlin sightings, and Captain Rosendo Gomez and Mate Carlos Santos reported seeing marlin and tuna themselves. Eight miles outside of Cerro, they got their first bite on a caballito, and one of their Sabinal, Texas group reeled in a 100-pound Striped Marlin, the first of three releases in a row. The next two Striped Marlin were in the 120-pound range, and all three Striped Marlin were taken and released on caballito eight miles outside the Cerro. The three Dorado they caught were also taken on caballito in the same location. Debbie Weston, J. Clark Ward, Mike Weston, and Susan Collins were happy Texans that night when they celebrated!
P Conditions offshore remained ideal as each boat worked its pattern through the blue water. As the morning sunlight rippled across the calm Pacific, the radio on the “KNOT WORKIN,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, was alive with reports of marlin and tuna sightings from boats tacking methodically between the Lighthouse and the Outer Banks, with crews switching between live bait and brightly colored lures. Spirits were high—with every hook-up bringing shouts from Captain Abraham on the bridge, and in the cockpit, a quick scramble to the rods by Mate Cesar as he coordinated the gaff and snap release.
Jacqueline Morin, Judy Morin, Mark Morin, and Nathan Farmer came away grinning as they had caught and released one 90-pound Striped Marlin on a cocinero, three 20 to 30-pound Yellowfin Tuna on lures, and one 183-pound Blue Marlin on an orange lure outside the Lighthouse.

From South Carolina, Bob Mutchler, Brad Mazerall, Coltin Mazerall, and Mike Steele were warmly welcomed by Captain Lopez and Mate Martinez as they came aboard the 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, the “BILL COLLECTOR II.” The group was eager to catch tuna, and the crew was just as eager to get started and head out to the fishing grounds to find fish for them. Heading to one of their favorite spots, the captain and mate were certain they would find tuna, and they did. The group came away with eight Yellowfin Tuna in the 20-pound range that they caught on the Kite, outside the San Jaime Bank. Everyone was pleased with their successful day, as noted by the cheers and laughter that resounded on deck!
Dave Smith, GT Mason, and Tommy Tarpley from Duncanville, Dallas, Texas, chartered the “TRACY ANN,” a 31-foot Bertram with Captain Julio Castro and TracyAnn Raul Leal. The anglers caught and released three Striped Marlin weighing around 70, 100, and 120 pounds on caballito outside the Cerro, one 20-pound Dorado on Ballyhoo off the Lighthouse, and nine Yellowfin Tuna weighing up to 30 pounds on lures and bait 18 miles to the 220. They had so many moments of success, whether in the excitement of the marlin leaping or the steady, heavy pull of the battling tuna on the line. They knew they were extremely fortunate that day.
