Great back to back days for Pisces 66′ Reels N Dirt

Overall Catch Success rate: 95% 

Billfish 69%, Dorado 43%, Tuna 39%, Other 22%

Good fishing this week once again! Billfish numbers up slightly, 69% of boats catching them, making for a total of 132 Marlin caught and released. Some more Dorado have begun to show up too, with 53 caught total. We also had 139 Tuna caught and 106 fish in our “Other”  category made up of Wahoo, Red Snapper and Sierra Mackerel mostly. 

Here’s a few highlights from the week: 

Pisces 66’ Reels N Dirt had two great back to back days, with 12 Striped Marlin Released on their best day! The next day they did well again, and  released 7 Striped Marlin. Fish hit on ballyhoo bait close to Los Arcos area, and averaged 100 lbs each.

Pisces 38’ C Rod had 6 Striped Marlin released, all between 80 and 100 lbs, on live and dead mackerel bait; close to Los Arcos. Pisces 37’ BBII also had 6 Striped Marlin later in the week, weighing approximately 110 to 140 lbs. All fish took ballyhoo bait at Los Arcos for anglers the Kress Family and Brenda Gisslen and Hadlee Anderson.

And another 6 Striped Marlin for Pisces 35’ Bill Collector 2 this time with Jennifer Wooten and Michael Santana aboard. The marlin were between 50 and 80 lbs and hit on dead mackerel and ballyhoo. They kept 1 Dorado which hit on ballyhoo just past the Old Lighthouse.

Pisces 31’ Rebecca had 5 Striped Marlin and 1 Dorado, further North, near Pescadero. For the Costa family.

Pisces 28’ Adriana had 4 Striped Marlin and 12 Yellowfin Tuna. Striped Marlin took dead mackerel near Los Arco and the Tuna took to cedar plugs and hoochis near Migrino. Anglers were Darcy and Thomas Chapman from Texas. 

Great Day aboard Pisces 35′ Valerie

Some Yellowfin Tuna for Pisces 35’ Valerie; 6 total, all about 15 to 20 lbs near Migrino. Then some smaller game fish, 8 Sierra Mackerel and 2 Red Snapper.  The 35’ Valerie had yet another day of good inshore fishing with 14 Sierra mackerel for the Gardner family from CA. They also released 2 Striped Marlin on dead mackerel near Migrino.

And More Yellowfin Tuna for Pisces 31’ La Brisa, all caught near the Old lighthouse on cedar plugs and hoochis. Tuna averaged 15 lbs, with anglers Bobby. They also released 2 Striped Marlin of about 50 and 100 lbs each on live mackerel.

Pisces 46’ La Chingona, had 1 Striped Marlin, 4 Dorado and 6 Yellowfin Tuna all near Migrino on Ballyhoo.  On another good day they had 3 Striped Marlin released, 3 Tuna and 3 Dorado!

Pisces 31’ Tracy Ann and the Kathmann family released 4 Striped Marlin on live bait at Los Arcos and kept 1 Dorado and 2 Yellowfin Tuna. On another day Pisces 31’ Tracy Ann had 5 Striped Marlin released for Paul Kraus and Stacy Sitzer.

The most Tuna caught were by Pisces 28’ Andrea with 20 Yellowfin Tuna by the Bormann family. They also did well with inshore fish, landing 13 Sierra for the Sullivans, along with 2 Striped Marlin of about 130 lbs each and 4 Dorado! A great day to close out the week.

LOCATION: Pacific side: Old Lighthouse, Los Arcos to Migrino, Near Golden Gate. 

WEATHER CONDITIONS: Overall Calm seas, a little wind beginning the week, overcast.

AVERAGE WATER TEMP: 73 F.
