Pisces Cabo Fishing Report October 11th to 17th

Dorado caught on Pisces 45′ Chasin Tail

Overall Catch Success rate: 92%

Billfish 32%, Dorado 75%, Tuna15%, Other 10%

Another great week of fishing in Cabo, plus the start of Tournament Season. Numbers for this week holding pretty steady compared to last’s. We had a 92% Catch Success Rate for all boats, with Dorado still making up for most catches, and lots of it; 75% of boats caught Dorado, with a total of 1,040 fish! Of course, this includes release numbers, and as always respecting size and catch limits. It was not uncommon to see vessels return to the dock reporting 20 Dorado each, as was the case for 3 year old angler Jorge Cooper Jr. and his family who fished on Pisces 31’ Tiburon catching 20, releasing 10, along with 1 Striped Marlin released too. From there, 32% of boats caught Billfish, 59 total released, mostly Striped Marlin, but still a few Blues and some Sailfish too. Tuna accounted for 12% of catches, 52 fish, and 15% for other fish, like Roosterfish, Grouper, Skipjack.

The Los Cabos Billfish Tournament (LCBT) culminated on October 14th, with three days of fishing and some good catches in all categories. Pisces 32’ Bill Collector with Captain Juan Carlos Lopez and Mate Esteban Balderas,  took Day Three Tuna Division with a 76.2 lbs Yellowfin for angler Mark Chiavetta. Day One Wahoo Division was taken by Pisces 35’ Bill Collector 2, Captained by Gil Castro and crewed by Ronaldo Castro and Juan Carlos Martinez with a 37.5 lbs Wahoo caught by Samantha Watters. Winning team of the Tournament was El Suertudo, a 80 foot Weaver Yacht. The team caught a 350 lbs Marlin on Day One and a 396 pounder on Day Two. Their total of 1244 points gave them 1st place, although Team Stella June, a 45 foot Sea Hunter, weighed in the biggest fish of the tournament, a 593 lbs Black Marlin (taking 2nd place); third went to Team Artemis with a 315 pound fish. Team El Suertudo took home a total of $344,700 USD. The Bisbees Los Cabos Offshore was also this same week, taking place October 16th and 17th. Again, a Pisces vessel found itself in the Winners circle. Pisces 35′ Knot Workin’ Captained by Tito Olascoaga, took 1st Place on Day Two in the Tuna Division with a 177 lbs fish.
