The end of June brought another week of fishing adventures on the waters surrounding the tip of Cabo, and the Pisces fleet continued to deliver fantastic results. However, the weather took a turn, and there were a couple of days when the Port Captain closed the Port because Hurricane Flossie passed by some distance from Cabo.
On the days they did journey out, each angler boarded the Pisces fleet boats eagerly anticipating the vibrant fight of the day’s catch at best or to celebrate the clear skies as they discovered not only the excitement of fishing but also the joy of the camaraderie they shared. The Pisces crews guided them to where Cabo’s rich fishing waters would lead them to the chases and unforgettable catches on their bucket lists.

“KNOT WORKIN,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge with Captain Abraham and Mate Lalo, had a family of Huntertimers, Alexis, Amanda, Kinsee, Randy, and Rhonda, plus Pat Usselman from Beulah, North Dakota. They were a fun group to have aboard. They were avid anglers. They caught six Yellowfin Tuna on bait 30 miles to the 210 Spot, making this trip one for the family scrapbook.
On the 64-foot Viking, the “LA CHINGONA 2,” with Captain Antonio Bojorquez and his Mates, fished for the Stars & Stripes Charity Tournament with their team of anglers who were there to help support the kids’ charity programs. The four anglers aboard were filled with the desire to give back to the community as they enjoyed this unforgettable day of adventure, with not only the fun of fishing but also the shared camaraderie that transforms every charity tournament into a wonderful memory. This year will loom forever in their minds as the 100-pound Striped Marlin they caught and released, and the 268.6-pound Blue Marlin they caught at the Punta Gorda Bank lingers there . What a day it turned out to be, and what an outstanding Tournament it was.
Farrah Freeman, the solo angler on the “ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, as Captain Fernando and Mate Marcelo managed the boat and the fishing, looking for Roosterfish for Farrah. She caught three 10 to 15-pound Roosterfish on lisas at the Cerro de Arena area and enjoyed watching the sleek, swift Roosters with their combs slicing through the water…a sight she had never seen another fish do, and it was a thrill to watch.

Saturday arrived with clear skies and calm seas, and the group from Lumberton, Texas, was pleased to charter the “CHASIN TAIL,“ a 62-foot Viking. Captain Pepe de la Paea and Mates Dulce, Ulices, and Ramon set the perfect stage for a day that promised not only thrilling catches but also shared experiences. Alex Donalson, John Duffy, Kevin Kirkland, Rachel Donalson, Stephanie Rea, Christiana Stan, Debbie Duffy, Jason Rea, and Jerald Donalson were excited when they caught and released one 250-pound Blue Marlin on curry and three Yellowfin Tuna on bait at the Cabrillo.

Captain Arturo and Mates Joel and Daniel, who run the “MY WAY,” a 48-foot Viking, welcomed Iowans, Billy Shephard, Brent Sapp, Caleb Yepes, Carlos Yepes, Christian Yepes, Connor Yepes, Ellen Sapp, and Grant Tacia aboard on Saturday morning. They instantly liked the group and were pleased to meet them. They could tell that everyone was brimming with anticipation and joy, a feeling that only the promise of a day on the water could bring. The anglers caught six up to 10-pound Yellowfin Tuna on bait and poppers at the Cabrillo.

The “REBECCA,” a 31-foot Bertram, captained by Captain Jose Ramon Alucano and Mate Jose G., were eager to begin the day as they welcomed their guests. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, their trio of anglers consisted of Stephanie Miller, Ian Carter, and Rachel Bennett. The team ventured to the waters near Jaime Bank, where they caught and released two 120-pound Striped Marlin and reeled in eight Yellowfin Tuna weighing up to 16 pounds on bait and feathers near Jaime Bank. They returned to the dock exhilarated, brimming with tales of their triumphs that marked the day’s journey.
Farrah Freeman once again went out to try her luck on the “ANDREA,” the 28-foot Uniflite, with Captain Fernando and Mate Marcelo, in the delicate art of inshore roosterfish fishing. However, this time, it was to be a Half-Day Trip. Again, she was after the master fighters, the Roosterfish, had captured her attention and her heart. She caught three Roosters in the 10 to 15-pound range on lisas at the Cerro de Arena.

Pisces Dock Weigh-In Delivers One for the History Books: 762.5-Pound Blue Marlin Lands at Cabo. On Monday, June 30, the Pisces weigh station became the epicenter of Cabo’s sportfishing buzz, as the official scale confirmed a remarkable 762.5-pound blue marlin. This trophy catch adds another glowing chapter to the El Suertudo legacy.
The story began on Sunday, June 29, when 21-year-old Micah DiStefano of San Clemente, Calif., engaged in an epic, nearly three-hour stand-up battle, using a Shimano Talica 50, rigged with 80-pound line. The marlin tested his endurance to the edge, but DiStefano held firm—an incredible demonstration of young skill and seasoned grit.
Fishing aboard the 80-foot custom Weaver, El Suertudo, captained by his father, Greg DiStefano, a fixture in Cabo’s tournament-winning circle and co-owned by Guy Yocom, whose own legendary record includes a 427-pound Yellowfin Tuna that earned a $1 million Mustad payout in 2012.
To preserve the fish’s condition, the crew stored it overnight upon returning to Port, which means the marlin could have potentially outweighed the final number. But even at 762.5 pounds, it’s among the largest recorded blue marlin brought in via stand-up gear in recent memory.
This catch reinforces Cabo’s status as one of the world’s premier destinations for big game sportfishing. It spotlights not only the skill required to land a marlin of this magnitude but also the rich marine ecosystems that make catches like these possible.
Congratulations to Micah DiStefano, Captain Greg DiStefano, and the entire El Suertudo team on another legendary moment for Baja’s waters.

“NOT WORKIN”” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, with Captain Abraham at the helm and Mate Cesar overseeing the cockpit, they were ready for their clients on Tuesday. The weather was clear and warm, and they knew the fish had been biting the day before outside the Lighthouse. Carl Drazic, Grayson Drazic, Madison Drazic, Megan Drazic, Nicholas Drazic, Amy Short, Dave Short, Gillian Lippincott, Katie Rainbo, and Mike Lippincott from Texas thought this would be a fun outing and were looking forward to it. The excitement among the guests on board was palpable, and they laughed and shared anticipation. As anglers reeled in their prized fish, the beautiful 40-pound Dorado, the mighty 120-pound Striped Marlin that they caught and released, and even the ten 5 to 20-pound Yellowfin Tuna – all outside the Lighthouse! They cheered on the angler as they reeled in every catch. They were all trophies in their eyes.
Captain Abel and Mate Ninja, who run the “RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, welcomed the Drazic family, including Carl, Grayson, Madison, Megan, and Nicholas from Texas. The fishermen caught 10 Yellowfin Tuna that weighed from 3 to 20 pounds on bait and feathers outside the Lighthouse. They could not have been more pleased with their catches.

As the day unfolded on the “BILL COLLECTOR II,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, with Captain Lopez and Mate Martinez, the waters of Baja continued to offer excitement for anglers. From Littleton, Colorado, three men came to try their luck at catching Tuna, and they hit the jackpot! Andrew Jackson, Nathan Jackson, and Toby DeWolfe caught 30 Yellowfin Tuna weighing from 10 to 20 pounds. It was as though the tuna just wouldn’t quit biting the bait and feathers, and they were tough fighters, exhausting the anglers! However, each had their own story to tell at the dock and at home.

The sea continued to be a canvas of adventure for everyone who chose their boat and crew from the Pisces fleet. On the “MY WAY,” a 48-foot Viking, the very skilled and experienced crew, Captain Arturo and Mate Josue, had a California group that was eager to see what they could catch. They headed to the 95 Spot, and 26 miles out, they caught a giant 75-pound Yellowfin Tuna on a flying fish. As the boat returned to the dock, it was buzzing with excitement and chatter, each angler eager to share the tale of the huge Yellowfin that didn’t get away.
