Pisces Fleet Weekly update from February 28 – March 7, 2025
When it comes to catchphrases in fishing, popular options include the catch of the day or casting lines to make memories, but when you aren’t catching many fish, the Pisces Fleet boats, and Captain and crew can make all the difference in your adventure; they like getting to know their clients. They enjoy their careers. And, of course, the weather and the water temperature play a big part as well. If one species of fish is not available, there are a variety of species available, and they are proud to take their customers to catch whatever is biting.
The water temperature this week was around 67 degrees, and the air remained around 70 to 72 degrees…quite comfortable. Anglers walked away with a tie between Bonito and Sierra…103 and 109 for the week. The rest, Roosterfish, Ladyfish, Striped Marlin, Dorado, and Yellowfin, fell in line behind. The others declared they were “gone fishing” and enjoyed their adventure out on the water.

Owen Sims, Paul Sims, and Savannah Varney chartered the “ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, run by the experienced Captain Fernando and Mate Marcelo D. They headed to the Cerro del Golden, where the anglers caught and released One 110-pound Striped Marlin on a mackerel, Fifteen Bonito, and One Sierra on cuchi. The weather was pleasant at 70 degrees, the fishing was productive, and the crew’s easy-going and fun nature added to their successful experience.

On the same day, Gregory Holtman, Mitchell Hanson, Patrick Traxler, and Richard Halverson went out on the “TIBURON,” a 31-foot Bertram, with the affable Captain Rey W. and Mate Carlos Santos. Their journey to the Gaspareno was a fruitful one, with the Minnesota lot reeling in Three Sierra and Thirteen Bonito. A change of location to the Casita Blanca brought them Three Roosterfish. The day was a testament to the diverse species and the abundance of fish in these waters.

Captain Ray Winkler and Mate Jesus Winkler, who run the “LA BRISA,” a 31-foot Bertram, took their Moline, Illinois group, David Blackburn, Jeff Blackburn, and Mike Omalley, to the Elias Calles Spot, where they caught Two Sierra, One 15-pound Roosterfish, Thirty Bonito and One 35-pound Yellowtail. Although they mainly caught Bonito, the day was pleasant and rewarding.

With Captain Niko at the Helm and Mate Erick 2 overseeing the cockpit of the “BILL COLLECTOR 2,” a 32-foot Cabo Express, they welcomed the group from Baker City outside of Denver, Colorado – Garrett Wolfe, Rebecca Lister, Mary Fillmore, and Jonathan Slater. The six fishermen enjoyed fishing together, and almost immediately, the anglers caught One Sierra and Two Bonito at the Gaspareño on cuchi. It was a pleasant day, full of warmth and laughter as they regaled each other with stories of the fish that “got away.”
Abel Hernandez, Angie Sandoval, Carmen Hernandez, Charyl Hayes, Chris Quinn, Daralei Quinn, Jose Sandoval, Kris Herd, Kristine Herd, and Tony Hayes chartered the “CHASIN TAIL” a 62-foot Viking, as their fishing platform. Captain Pepe and Mates Dulce, Ulices, and Ramon headed to the Old Lighthouse, the fishing Spot where the anglers caught One Roosterfish on mackerel, then on to the Pedregal, where they got One Triggerfish and One Yellowtail on jigs. The boat was impeccably maintained, with a teak deck, mezzanine, and three heads. It had two powerful MTU engines located port and starboard and a Sea Keeper stabilizer, providing a fast and smooth cruising experience. Her sophisticated interiors are finished in satin wood and are illuminated with LED interior lights. The elegant helm and companion chairs are finished in smooth ultra-leather. The salon boasts an electric door opener and a 46″ TV above the dinette. It was an excellent boat for lounging for the day, and the ten guests had a great time doing so.
Captain Osiel Winkler and Mates on the “BBII,” a 37-foot Viking Billfish 2018, took his Denver, Colorado group, Katie Pribyl, Mike Curtis, Penny Callantine, Skye Callantine, Sue Curtis to Frente Cerro Spot where they caught and released One 120-pound Striped Marlin on mackerel, then moving on, they went to the Gaspareño where they caught Thirty Sierra and Eleven Bonito on cuchi. There probably weren’t too many minutes that a fish wasn’t hooked that day, and the Colorado group left the boat smiling. They had come to catch fish, and they did!

“LA BRISA,” a 31-foot Bertram with Captain Orlando at the Helm and Mate Raul overseeing the cockpit, was pleased to meet the anglers from Chanhassen, Minnesota, Cole Deters, David Deters, Jase Deters, Nicole Deters, and Paige Klaphake. They were a lively group that was there to have fun. They headed to the 35-pound Yellowtail. The Captain and mate joined in the good time!
