The day promised to be a warm one with calm waters as Captain Carmelo and Mate Brian readied their boat and tackle for the “EL CAZADOR,” a 29-foot Black Fin. Their client, Michael Phelps, from San Jose, California, was an avid angler and was fishing alone, so they headed to the San Jaime, where they had heard reports of Tuna. He caught eight Yellowfin Tuna, ranging from 10 to 20 pounds, on bait and lures that day and was pleased with his catch.
Out for a busman’s holiday on the “LA CHINGONA 2,” a 64-foot Viking, with Captain TOÑO Bojorquez and his mates, Captain Antonio Bojorquez caught one 102-pound Swordfish on a mackerel. He caught and released one 100-pound Striped Marlin on a Ballyhoo at one of Cabo’s richest fishing spots, the 1150.
Dan Godwin, Hudson Baca, Joey Loranc, and Miles Godwin, from Jonestown, Texas, chose the “RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, with Captain Abel and Mate Ninja, which proved to be a wise choice. The crew ran to the 150 Spot, where the anglers caught and released two Striped Marlin, one weighing one hundred pounds and the other around 120 pounds, on Ballyhoo and Lisa, fifty miles to the 150 Spot. Then they began catching Yellowfin and wound up catching seventeen Yellowfin Tuna from 25 to 55 pounds in the same area. Spirits were high as they fought the prized catches, and even higher when they came to the dock with lots to show for their day.

The anglers returned to the dock, eager to share their tales of the fish that didn’t get away!
Jim and Ann Anderson from Reno, Nevada, a frequent angler on the Pisces fleet, selected the “CHASIN TAIL,” a62-foot Viking, run by Captain Pepe De La PeÑa and Mates Ulises and Ramon, were determined to find the Yellowfin Tuna for their anglers, so they ran 40 Miles to the 200 Spot. “RUTHLESS,” a 31-foot Bertram, with the very skilled Captain Beto Lira and his Mate Jesus R. decided that the 210 Spot would probably hold some nice-sized Tuna, so they headed in that direction as soon as their guests, Bubba Neville, Mr. Roy Carroway, and Rob Hare from Lufkin, Texas, boarded and were ready to go. When they arrived around 25 miles from the 210 Spot, the anglers began catching the first of around twenty nice-sized Yellowfin Tuna, ranging from 8 to 20 pounds, on bait and feathers. It was one of those days when the water teemed with fish – they were everywhere, offering excitement and promising a memorable day.

The day began with anticipation, which continued to grow as “REBECCA,” a 31-foot Bertram, left the dock with five excited anglers from Ojo Feliz, New Mexico. CaptainJose Ramon Alucano and Jose G. had heard that the Yellowfin could be found almost everywhere in the Cabo waters, and he chose the Herradura Spot to run to, which was a perfect choice. Derrick Bustos, Jack Storie, Larry Reid, Misty Reid, and Tresa Storie caught twenty-four Yellowfin Tuna from 20 to 25 pounds on bait and feathers. The dock was abuzz with chatter and questions when they returned, and they were eager to hear the details of their trip.
P Earl Frost and Jammie Hogge from Florida chartered the “KARINA,” a 30-foot Bertram with the experienced Cabo Captain Bruce M. and Mate Jorge Velez who had been together on the boat for many years. They chose the Herradura to take their clients for their fishing day, and they were happy they did. Not only did they experience the thrill of battling a 100-pound Striped Marlin on bait and then releasing it back into the water, but they also caught thirteen nice-sized Yellowfin Tuna from 20 to 25 pounds. It was only after they spent the day with the crew on the Pisces Fleet that they realized it was true that Cabo is a haven for unforgettable fishing adventures.

The clear skies and the seas were pretty calm when Captain Rosendo Gomez and Mate Arturo Lozano left the dock with the Schoenfields, Johnny, Trey, and William in the “ADRIANA,” a 28-foot Uniflite. The family from Houston was eager to get started on their fishing day, and the captain headed toward the Lighthouse. When they were 23 miles outside of the Lighthouse, they caught three Yellowfin Tuna weighing up to 18 pounds on bait. They were certainly stronger fighters than the Redfish they were used to in their waters in the Gulf! They enjoyed their day with the Captain and Mate and learned a lot about fishing in the Sea of Cortez.
Captain Nico and Mate Erick thought the Dillon family might enjoy fishing closer inshore, and they took them on the “BILL COLLECTOR,” a 32-foot Cabo Express, just outside the Lighthouse by three miles, where they caught one 18-pound Roosterfish on a bait that was quite willing to show off for them. They also caught a Skipjack on bait in the same area. Each boat had its unique adventure, with the captain running to the exceptional fishing spot to uncover just the right bounty that would fit their desire. That is how the Pisces fleet operates; under optimal sea conditions, they strive to make their clients as pleased with their trips and catches as possible.
Captain Abel and Mate Jose Luis, on the “RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, decided a trip to the San Jaime seemed to be in the works. They had a group from California for the day, a happy group, eager to fish and very likable. Captain Abel and Jose felt an instant camaraderie, and they all enjoyed the fishing day. Addy Jackson, Braylon Schiele, Cale Schiele, Chris Schiele, F.J. Miller, and Norah Miller began their day on a light note, so it wasn’t surprising that every fish they caught was fun for them. The first catch and release was one BIG 140-pound Striped Marlin on caballito, four 25 to 30-pound Yellowfin Tuna on cuchi, and one 40-pound Wahoo on a Rapala, all 45 miles heading from the Cape to San Jaime.
Each person aboard the boats returned with stories of triumph, camaraderie, and appreciation for the fishing trip. Those were days when the thrill of the chase met the satisfaction of their catch, creating cherished memories for everyone involved. The Pisces Fleet boats, renowned for their state-of-the-art equipment and skilled crews, set out to make everyone’s trip a memorable one.

They were pleased to have him aboard and took him to one of their favorite fishing spots, Jaime Banks. Outside the Jaime, David caught nine Yellowfin Tuna from 14 to 20 pounds on bait. He commented that it was one of the most pleasant trips he had experienced, and he looked forward to fishing with the Pisces group again.
Graham, Tilton, and Mason Beard from Jacksonville, Texas, chartered the “RUTHLESS,” a 31-foot Bertram, with Captain Beto Lira at the Helm and Jesus overseeing the cockpit. They were able to put the Beards on fifteen up to 20-pound Yellowfin Tuna using bait and feathers 30 miles to the 220 Spot. There was lots of laughter, leaving the anglers exhilarated and hungry for their next trip!
“RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, had one of the best-known Captains, Abel, and his Mate José Luis R running the show when they headed to the Golden Gate Bank. Adriana Singelyn, David Singelyn, and John Eng from Flemington, New Jersey, were excited to begin their day, and immediately liked their crew as they came aboard. They immediately caught twelve up to 30-pound Dorado on feathers and bait, five 6 to 10-pound Yellowfin Tuna, and one Wahoo around 25 pounds on bait, all at the Golden Gate Bank. The three anglers battled their prized catches in the serene yet challenging waters off the Baja Peninsula and enjoyed every moment of the give-and-take of the challenge in the struggle. However, the most memorable moment was when the Dorado’s vibrant colors flashed in the sunlight as it was brought aboard.
