Blue Marlin Headlines a Stellar Week for the Pisces Fleet

Cabo San Lucas Catch successful Trips 86.90%, Billfish 41.67%, Dorado 32.14%. Other 20.24%. Roosterfish 11.90%, Tuna 34.52%, Wahoo 03.57%

The Pisces Fleet continues to take clients to Cabo’s rich fishing waters, where recent trips have yielded memorable catches, including an impressive 375.5-pound Blue Marlin and multiple Yellowfin Tuna.Several Striped Marlin were released, along with enough Dorado, Roosterfish, and Sierra to keep anglers happy and to encourage readers to look forward to their own adventures in Cabo’s offshore waters.

The 28-foot Uniflite, the “ADRIANA,” captained by Fernando and Arturo, headed to the Migrino on Friday with their clients, George J. Hernandez and James P. Hernandez, from Ft. Worth, Texas, to fish. George and James caught and released one 130-pound Striped Marlin on bait and one 4 or 5-pound Sierra, also on bait at the Migrino.

Alex Cano, Armando Delgado, Henry Delgado, Jose Marquez, Juan AÃez, and Luis Borjas from Charlotte, North Carolina chartered “LA BRISA,” a 31-foot Bertram with Captain Ray Winkler and Mate Jesus Winkler running the boat. The anglers caught eight Roosterfish in the 20 to 30-pound range on bait at the Los Arcos Spot. They concluded that Roosterfish was a fun species to catch, and it had been an enjoyable day of fishing.

“REELS N DIRT,” a 72-foot Viking Skybridge with Captain Alan and crew, welcomed anglers aboard from Tampa, Florida, including Angela LaFace, Chris LaFace, Cole LaFace, and Gabrielle Coenen, before heading to Fuera Morro Prieto, where they released two Striped Marlin weighing 80 to 100 pounds using ballyhoo. They also released two Roosterfish in the 25 to 28-pound range at Casita Blanca, taken on caballito.

Roberto Sandez and his mate, Salvador Flores, aboard the “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram with anglers Anthony Piwonka, Camilo Villalobos Torres, Jesús Reguillo Torres, and Josefina Piwonka, ran to the San Jaime Bank in hopes of catching Marlin. They caught and released one small Striped Marlin around 100 pounds on bait, along with one 20-pound Dorado and four Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 10 and 30 pounds, all on bait at the San Jaime. With pleasant weather and calm seas, the trip was very enjoyable for everyone aboard.

The “EL CAZADOR,” a 29-foot Black Fin captained by Captain Marcelo and Mate Alucano, reported a successful outing on Sunday, with anglers Brian McIvor and Savannah Skeffington from Denver, Colorado, who caught and released one Striped Marlin weighing around 110 pounds. Additionally, they landed a 20-pound Dorado on ballyhoo at Los Arcos, and six Yellowfin Tuna ranging from 8 to 10 pounds, caught at Palo and Los Arcos.

Howard Evans, a solo angler from California, chartered the “FRIDAY BANK,” a 66-foot Viking captained by Alex and Mates Saul and Beto. He reported a productive day on the water on Sunday as he successfully released two Striped Marlin weighing between 90 and 100 pounds, one on a caballito and the other on a lure, approximately four miles off del Cerro. In addition, Howard landed four Roosterfish using caballito at Casita Blanca.

Captain Orlando and Mate Carlos Santos on the “TIBURON, a 31-foot Bertram, reported a successful fishing trip with anglers Angela Reilly and John Reilly. They caught and released one Striped Marlin weighing between 90 and 110 pounds, taken on caballito near Fuera del Cerro.

The angler on board “MY WAY,” a 48-foot Viking captained by Arturo, and Mates Daniel and Josue, was Marshall Cromer from Oakland, California. Marshall landed two Dorado, weighing around 30 to 35 pounds, on bait. While the fishing wasn’t outstanding, the camaraderie was wonderful, and the fillets were delicious.

"KNOT WORKIN," a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge

“KNOT WORKIN,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, run by Abraham and Cesar on this Half-Day trip, reported a productive day offshore for the Renicks. Albre, Jesica, Justin, and Mike Renick caught and released one Striped Marlin weighing 80 pounds on bait, and landed five yellowfin tuna, weighing between 8 and 10 pounds each, also on bait, five miles outside Del Cerro. Additionally, one Skipjack in the 4 to 5-pound range was caught on bait.

"RUTHLESS," a 31-foot Bertram

Patrick Menge, Russel Menge, and Thomas DePuydt from Glasgow, Montana, chartered the “RUTHLESS,” a 31-foot Bertram, with Captain Beto Lira and Mate Super Mario at the helm. They reported a successful fishing trip at the Herradura. The anglers landed one Dorado weighing between 15 and 18 pounds, and six Yellowfin Tuna ranging from 5 to 13 pounds on bait and feathers. Additionally, they caught six Skipjack weighing 3 to 5 pounds.

"VALERIE," a 35-foot Bertram

The catch of the week was landed on the “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram, skippered by Captain Roberto Sandez and Mate Raul. An impressive Blue Marlin weighing 375.5 pounds was caught on a mackerel by a team of anglers, including Andrew Gayhart, Aubrey Conklin, Chris Conklin, and Kelsey Gayhart from Rosholt, Wisconsin.

From Imlay, Michigan, Catherine and Michael Fanelli chose the “LA BRISA,” a 31-foot Bertram, with Captain Ray Winkler and Mate Jesus Winkler, as their fishing platform for Wednesday. They caught six Skipjack in the 4 to 5-pound range and five Yellowfin Tuna in the 8 to 12-pound range, all on cuchi, 28 miles to the 110 Spot.

“BILL COLLECTOR2,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, with Captain Abel and Mate Jose Luis welcoming the boat’s anglers—Charles J. Milani, Charles P. Milani, Christopher Milani, Natalie Cotton, and Sue Milani, all from Henderson, Nevada—ran to the 150 Spot, 30 miles offshore. The anglers landed ten Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 15 and 50 pounds using a Kite, bait, and feathers.

"RUTHLESS," a 31-foot Bertram,

Captain Beto Lira and Mate Mario J, who skippered the “RUTHLESS,” a 31-foot Bertram, reported a productive offshore trip at the Herradura. The anglers on board, including Craig Hesse, Kim Farrell, Lisa Hesse, and Melanie Farrell, landed 15 Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 8 and 15 pounds, using bait and feathers.

Final Thoughts

This week showcased everything Cabo’s offshore fishery is known for—consistent Striped Marlin releases, plentiful Yellowfin Tuna, and the kind of standout catch that anglers dream about, highlighted by the 375.5‑lb Blue Marlin aboard Valerie. With calm seas, clear skies, and a variety of species biting across multiple locations, it was an exceptional stretch for the Pisces Fleet. With conditions remaining favorable and fish continuing to move through the area, now is the perfect time for anglers to plan their next adventure on the water.
