Throughout the week, anglers enjoyed generally favorable conditions, including warm water temperatures, calm seas, and consistent bait availability. These factors contributed to productive offshore action, particularly at the renowned 1150 Spot, where Striped Marlin dominated the catch reports. The results reflect not only the strength of the seasonal bite but also the professionalism and experience of the captains, crews, and anglers who participated during this period.

Friday, April 10, 2026, under clear skies and calm seas with 4 to 5-foot waves, water temperatures at 75 degrees, air temperatures from 76 to 77, and winds ranging from 10 mph, the “REBECCA,” a 31-foot Bertram, under the management of Captain Jose Ramon Alucano and Mate Marcelo, reported a notable catch at the start of the week. Anglers landed five Striped Marlin, each weighing between 100 and 120 lbs., using cocinero and ballyhoo as bait near Punta Gorda. The anglers included Anastasia Baker, Colin Nagy, Emily Seinkner, John Nagy, and Ryan Nagy, all hailing from Canfield, Ohio.

The “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram captained by Roberto Sandez and Mate Salvador Flores, also delivered an excellent performance. The crew and their anglers—Alan Cox, Amy Daughtry, Bill McElmurry, and Gayle Consiglio from West Palm Beach, Florida—landed and released four Striped Marlin weighing between 90 and 100 lbs. All catches were made with cocinero bait at the 1150 Spot.

Saturday, April 11, 2026, under clear April skies, calm seas, the “TRACY ANN,” a 31-foot Bertram captained by Fernando with Mate Macelo and their clients, Javier Casillas Cristiani, Luis David Casillas Soto, and Renata Casillas Cristiani, all from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The anglers landed two Striped Marlin weighing around 100 and 120 lbs., which were caught and released using cocinero. Water temperatures of 77 degrees, air temperatures of 78 to 80, and 4- to 5-foot waves made it an enjoyable experience for the anglers.

Captain Abel and Mates Ninja and Mario, aboard the 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, “BILL COLLECTOR 2,” reported a notable day at the 1150 Spot. Anglers Jud Harris and Morgan Estes, from Waco, Texas, successfully caught a Silky Shark weighing 80 lbs. using cocinero as well.

“KARINA,” a 30-foot Bertram captained by Bruce with Mate Raul, also reported a productive day at the 1150 location. The angler, Catherine Baldwin, successfully caught and released two Striped Marlin, weighing about 70 and 115 lbs. These catches were made using ballyhoo and Purpura lures.

On a memorable outing on Monday, April 13, 2026, with equally beautiful, slightly warmer weather, Brian Clark, Ken Sousa, Kim Sousa, and Spring Steed, arriving from Vacaville, California, contributed to the day’s achievements on the “TIBURON,” skippered by Captain Rosendo Gomez with Mate Raul. They landed two Dorado weighing between 15 and 30 lbs. using a cocinero. Also reported notable results at the 1150 Spot. The efforts reflected a high level of coordination and expertise, further contributing to the day’s impressive catch.
“REBECCA,” with Captain Jose Ramon and Mates Alucano and Macelo, also achieved a significant catch on the 1150. Bob Richards and Dylan Richards, both from Truckee, California, caught and released five Striped Marlin, estimated to weigh 100-120 lbs., on ballyhoo. They also released one Mako Shark weighing between 60 and 70 lbs. on cocinero. The catches underscored the skill and dedication required to secure such a catch, further enhancing the day’s overall results.

With clear skies, weather at 78-79 degrees, and calm water, Chuy Romero, captain of the 28-foot Uniflite, “ANDREA,“ along with Mate Arturo, reported a successful day at the 1150 Spot on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Anglers Adam Reardon and Janette Moreno caught and released two Striped Marlin, each estimated at 90-100 lbs., using jurelito bait, showing skill and teamwork throughout the day. Their contributions highlighted the excellent marlin fishery at the 1150.

Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Captain Carmelo and Mate Luis aboard the vessel “EL CAZADOR” experienced a pleasant and productive outing at the 1150 Spot with equally warm, calm weather. Kevin Iverso from Deer Lodge, Montana, successfully caught and released three Striped Marlin, weighing 80 to 120 lbs. Iverson contributed to the team’s impressive results, further highlighting his skill and dedication.
The 31-foot Bertram “TRACY ANN” added to the day’s achievements at the 1150 Spot. Bruce Holt and Glenn Slomin caught and released two Striped Marlin, each estimated at 90-100 lbs., using caballito. Angler Randy Slomin landed a Dorado weighing 30 lbs. with a ballyhoo. The accomplishment highlighted the effective techniques and teamwork that showed throughout the event, further enhancing the impressive list of catches recorded at the 1150 spot.
Also on Wednesday, the”BBII,” captained by Hector with Mates Gil and Lalo, reported notable results at the 1150. The team, including Dena Hospodka, Makenzie Hospodka, and Shelby Mendoza, from Reno, Nevada, caught and released one Striped Marlin estimated at 100-120 lbs. using a ballyhoo, and landed one Dorado weighing approximately 20 to 25 lbs., also on ballyhoo. Their skillful angling and coordination contributed to a productive and memorable day on the water, reflecting the participants’ high level of skill and expertise.
On Thursday, April 16, 2026, aboard the 29-foot Black Fin vessel “EL CAZADOR,” Captain Carmelo and Mate Luis achieved further success at the 1150 Spot. The team skillfully caught and released two Striped Marlin (100-120 lbs) on bait, plus two Mako Sharks, each estimated to weigh at 60 to 80 lbs. using bait. Pancho Bojorquez, with permission to participate, contributed to the outing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. This accomplishment underscores the anglers’ skill and the favorable conditions during their fishing trip.
On Thursday, April 16, 2026, the 30-foot Bertram “KARINA,” captained by Bruce with Mate Jorge Velez, reported a productive day in the area off Presidente, San Jose. Anglers Jaydon Reese and John Reese, both hailing from Alabama, caught and released one Roosterfish weighing between 15 and 20 lbs. with bait.
