In the middle of it all, the week’s biggest catches became instant legends, adding to Baja’s ever-growing lore and ensuring that, no matter the outcome, every adventurer has a reason to return. Each trip carried with it the promise of excitement, camaraderie, and the thrill of both the chase and the catch.

“KNOT WORKIN,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, with Captain Abraham and Mate Lalo, who like the 95 Spot; it’s one of their favorites. So, they ran for it with their solo angler, Emiliano Maldona, and he had a great day! Not only did he catch a 12-pound Dorado on curry, but he also caught ten Yellowfin Tuna, weighing from 30 to one of them weighing 137 pounds on a kite and curry at the 95 Spot. He was a bit tired and ready to turn in that evening, but it was worth the fight that day!

Archer Beckham, Martinez Delaney, Lynn Balhut, and Gabriel Martinez chartered the “BBII,” a 37-foot Viking Billfish 2018, with Osiel Winkler at the Helm and Mates Gil W. and Lalo overseeing the Cockpit for their fishing platform on Sunday. They ran to Punta Gorda, where”BILL COLLECTOR II” had released two Striped Marlin and a Blue Marlin the day before. As luck would have it, their first fish was a billfish they hooked on a Ballyhoo, a Sailfish weighing 60 or 70 pounds that they released, but their second fish was the winner! They caught and released a 250 to 280-pound Blue Marlin on a curry at Punta Gorda! They left the Pisces fleet dock with fantastic stories about their catches, the beautiful acrobatic Sailfish, and the battle of the Big Blue!

Captain Fernando Noyola and Mate Marcelo Davis were pleased to welcome Celeste and Mitchell Palm from California aboard their Pisces boat, the 28-foot Uniflite, “ANDREA.” The Palms were excited to be fishing and enjoyed every moment of the day on the water, which is the kind of clients Fernando and Marcelo like having on the boat. The day went by too fast as the anglers were busy catching eight 14 to 20-pound Yellowfin Tuna on lures at the Jaime Bank.

Kevin, Marc, and Nicolas Dal Porto from California selected the "TIBURON," a 31-foot Bertram

Kevin, Marc, and Nicolas Dal Porto from California selected the “TIBURON,” a 31-foot Bertram, to chase tuna with Captain JR and Mate Carlos running the boat. They caught five Yellowfin Tuna weighing up to twenty pounds outside the 95 Spot, and they were thrilled to share in the tales of the day’s successful tuna fights when they returned to the dock.

On the “ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, with Captain Beto and Mate Marcelo, a group from Houston, Texas, Chastity O’Brien, Fabiola Marmorato, Norberto Marmorato, and Russell O’Brien caught five 8 to 20-pound Yellowfin Tuna on bait at the 95 Spot. Laughter and good-natured rivalry mingled in the air as the anglers recounted those that almost got away, those they lost, and celebrated the fish they caught.

Joseph and Kai Brown selected the "ADRIANA," a 28-foot Uniflite, with Captain Frank and Mate Arturo,

Coming all the way from England, United Kingdom, Joseph and Kai Brown selected the “ADRIANA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, with Captain Frank and Mate Arturo, as their fishing platform. They were very lucky to have caught a 40-pound Wahoo on a lure, when they were 12 miles out to the 150 Spot. At the end of the day, after the boats returned to the dock, and the other anglers were laughing and teasing about the size and the battle involved in catching their fish, they became a bit green with envy when they heard about the Wahoo the Browns had caught.

“TRES TEJAS,” a 60-foot Valhalla with Captain Arturo and Mates, welcomed the skilled angler, Francisco A Montelongo,  from Cabo San Lucas. They headed to the Destiladeras Spot where he caught one 20-pound Dorado on a lure, one 35-pound Wahoo on a Rapala, and one 350-pound Black Marlin on a lure. As his boat came in, the dock was buzzing. Word of the lone angler drew spectators, and even other seasoned captains were drawn to the dock to see what the lone fisherman had brought in. Congratulations were in order, and they were proclaimed, along with loud cheers!

"FRIDAY BANK," a 66-foot Viking

“FRIDAY BANK,” a 66-foot Viking captained by Alex, along with Mates Saul and Beto, hoped to find lots of Tuna action, but only found two 15-pound Yellowfin Tuna for their anglers on feathers outside the 95 Spot. Benjamin Miller, Allen Brooks, Miller Allen, Chelsea Lynn Allen, Emma Louise Allen, and Parker Benjamin Allen from Fort Worth Texas, returned to the dock exhilarated, brimming with laughter and excitement over their triumphs that marked the day’s journey. HALF DAY

The “RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, with Abel and Mate Daniel, had a HALF-DAY charter from Californians, Ian and Max Peacock. Even with it being only a four-hour day, they managed to catch seven Yellowfin Tuna weighing up to 30 pounds on bait and feathers outside Cabo Real. There wasn’t a moment to spare!

Dreaming of catching a big Marlin, Bryce Liu, Chang Liu, Daniel Hodhod, and Feng Chen chartered the “LA CHINGONA 2,” a 64-foot Viking, with Captain Bojorquez and his Mates. They succeeded and returned from the 1150 Spot with a gleaming 230-pound Blue Marlin they had caught and released on curry. The day was loaded with adventure as they fought the Big Blue. They recounted close calls where they almost lost the powerful Marlin, and many times when the rhythm of reeling the marlin in was almost too easy. But the story that was told and retold became better with the telling and would continue to be.

Captain Jaime and Mate Silverio were eager to go to the 1150 Spot on the “CALIENTE,” a 42-foot Cabo Flybridge. Jaime Gonzalez, from Cabo San Lucas, B.C.S., MX wanted a chance at catching one of the Blue Marlin so armed with caballito, they took off to what they thought was the hot area, where several other boats had chased and caught these elusive giants of the deep. They excitedly managed to have one of these majestic marlin bite, and after hours of fighting the 200-pound Blue Marlin, they were able to catch and release it. They had the satisfaction of a day well spent.

“ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite with Captain Fernando Noyola at the Helm and Mate Marcelo overseeing the cockpit, also ran to the 1150 Spot. This time, they had a very pleasant couple from Redondo Beach, California, Alison and Ron Honeycutt, fishing with them. The couple caught four Yellowfin Tuna weighing up to 30 pounds on bait outside the 1150 Spot, and to crown their day, they caught and released a stunning 110-pound Striped Marlin on a bait, also outside the 1150 Spot, making this trip one for their family scrapbook.

When they were just outside the 1150 Spot, a 100-pound Striped Marlin bit their caballito, and they had a battle going until they released it. Then they had a 20-pound Yellowfin Tuna take a bait outside the 1150 Spot, and they were finished for the day. They enjoyed their day, and with promises to return, they left with huge smiles on their faces.

Captain Toño and Mates running the “LA CHINGONA 2,” a 64-foot Viking, had quite a group aboard on Thursday.  Amarantha Naoyaka, Silva Ruiz, Annette Acosta, Enrifdque Acosta, Ricardo Acosta, Farr Shepherd, Karina Sarahi,   Jara Meza, Katherine Shepherd, Rebecca Alvarado, and Saul Ysabel UrÃ-as Silva were there to have a great time.

The anglers caught and released one 100-pound Striped Marlin on a Tigrillo Lure, thirteen Yellowfin Tuna, with one of them weighing 153 pounds on Petrolero Lures, and one 40-pound Dorado on the lucky Tigrillo Lure, all at the 1150 Spot.

Tales of marlin and tuna quickly spread along the docks, and “MY WAY,” a 48-foot Viking, with Captain Arturo and Mates Daniel and Josue welcomed Marshall Cromer from Oakland, California, aboard and headed out, eager to see what they could find. As he was a solo angler, by mid-morning, he was knee-deep in catching Yellowfin Tuna and he quickly had many in the boat. Camaraderie and excitement fueled each catch, and as the day drew to a close, he realized he had caught thirteen Yellowfin Tuna weighing from 20 to 160 pounds on a kite, and they were 40 miles heading to the 110.

From the chatter on the radio it was clear: big fish and big adventures were in the cards for everyone on the water. Donald Lyons and Ethan Lyons from Texas chartered the “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram, with Captain Roberto Sandez and Salvador Flores running the boat, and they headed to the 1150 Spot, even knowing the boats would be stacking up on that very popular spot. They caught twelve Yellowfin Tuna weighing up to 73 pounds using bait and feathers outside the 1150 Spot, and they added a new spark of competition to the days buzz about the promise in the next run.

P  REBECCA,” a 31-foot Bertram, with Captain Jose Ramon Alucano and Mate Jose enjoyed having the Fox Island, Washington anglers, Barry Pepich and Garrett Pepich on board.  They traveled 35 miles to the 150 where they began to catch the hardy fighters. They were avid anglers and didn’t stop as long as there were fish to be caught, and fifteen Yellowfin Tuna were weighing up to 20 pounds for them to catch that day. They were delighted. And as the afternoon wore on, instead of tiring, they were energized by their catches. They wanted their haul to keep growing and weren’t about to slow down, but the Yellowfin school decided they would call it a day.
