Friday, August 7, 2026, was a great day to be fishing in Cabo San Lucas, BC. Overall, it was a sunny day with clear skies and calm seas. Waves ranged from 4 to 5 feet, with a light wind of only 4 mph. The water temperature was a warm 85 degrees, while the air was quite hot, ranging from 89 to 102. It was important that everyone remained hydrated and protected themselves from overheating.
The Turner family, Langston Turner, Tennessee Turner, and Wilcox Turner, from California, chartered the 35-foot Cabo Flybridge “KNOT WORKIN,” crewed by Captain Abraham and Mate Cesar. The anglers reported a successful fishing trip, including the catch-and-release of one Striped Marlin weighing approximately 80 to 90 pounds and the landing of five Yellowfin Tuna ranging from 15 to 60 pounds, all on curry at the Herradura.
Captain Erick Orozco and Mate Jose Ramiro Ramirez, aboard the 42-foot Cabo Flybridge “HOT ROD,” enjoyed an eventful offshore fishing trip. The anglers on the trip were Brandon Gaskill, Janie Pollom, Mike Cooke, Rodney Gaskill, and Tammy Gaskill. They landed and released one Striped Marlin, estimated to weigh 100 to 110 pounds, using curry approximately 22 miles offshore at the 180 Spot. In addition, the group caught four Yellowfin Tuna, ranging from 15 to 93 pounds, using Rapala lures in the same area.
On Saturday, August 8, 2026, conditions remained favorable, with clear skies and calm seas. Wave heights stayed consistent at 3 to 4 feet, providing comfortable boating conditions. Water temperatures were warm, ranging from 87 to 90 degrees, while air temperatures ranged from 80 degrees in the morning to a high of 91 degrees in the afternoon. Overall, the combination of stable weather, warm water, and calm seas created an excellent environment for offshore fishing and boating.
The 62-foot Viking, “CHASIN TAIL,” captained by Pepe, with Mates Ramon and Dulce, and participating anglers Christopher Carl McCall and Kari Sittig McCall from California, enjoyed the fishing trip, producing an impressive catch of five Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 90 and 119 pounds. The fish were caught using curry, bait, and lures approximately 30 miles offshore at the 180 Spot, a location known for its productive fishing. The anglers on CHASIN TAIL experienced exceptional action and landed several trophy-class tuna, making it a memorable day on the water.
The 37-foot Viking Billfish 2018, the “BBII,” captained by Nico and Mates Hector and Winkler, delivered an outstanding offshore fishing experience for clients Andy Stahlman, Bridgette Stahlman, Jackson Stahlman, Kenner Stahlman, and Matthew Stahlman, who visited from Austin, Texas, and landed eight Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 30 and 109 pounds. The catch was made using Kite fishing techniques at the 95 Spot, a well-known area for quality tuna action. The anglers enjoyed an exciting day on the water and were rewarded with an impressive mixed-size tuna catch, highlighted by several trophy-class fish. The outing highlighted the abundant offshore opportunities available in the region.
On Sunday, August 9, 2026, the Cabo fishing areas offered ideal offshore fishing conditions. Wave heights ranged from 2 to 4 feet. Sea surface temperatures were exceptionally warm, measuring between 87 and 89°F, while air temperatures ranged from a pleasant 78°F in the morning to 87°F during the day. Stable weather and favorable conditions contributed to a productive and comfortable day on the water.
The 42-foot Cabo Flybridge, “CALIENTE,” with Captain Jaime and Mate Piwy, had a productive day offshore, with anglers Ian Dunckel, Keith Dunckel, Russ Halvorson, Ryan Zent, and Taylor Hetzel experiencing steady action throughout the trip. The anglers landed seven Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 15 and 40 pounds using bait and lures approximately 35 miles offshore at the 240 Spot, an area known for an abundance of Yellowfin Tuna.
The 31-foot Bertram “TIBURON,” with Captain Rosendo Gomez at the Helm, and Mates Carlos Santos and Jorge Velez overseeing the cockpit, enjoyed an excellent offshore fishing trip when their anglers, Bibiana Martinez and Richard Osma landed an impressive Yellowfin Tuna weighing 89.5 pounds. The fish was caught using a caballito approximately 18 miles offshore at the 180 Spot, a productive area known for producing quality tuna. The catch served as a testament to both the crew’s expertise and the excellent fishing opportunities available.
Conditions throughout the Cabo region were highly favorable for boating and fishing on Monday, August 10, 2026. Clear skies and calm seas made for comfortable fishing trips both offshore and along the coast. Wave heights averaged 4 to 5 feet, with light winds around six mph. Air temperatures ranged from a morning low of 89 degrees to afternoon highs of 101 degrees, reflecting typical hot August weather in Baja California Sur. Overall, clear weather, light winds, and manageable sea conditions made for an excellent day on the water for anglers and recreational boaters alike.
The 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, “Bill Collector 4,” was run by Captain Jean Carlo and Mates Erick and Jean Ramon. Aboard were participants from Belton, Texas, including Allison Lovorn, Chester Smith, Jennifer Smith, Josh Tulloch, Layne Lovorn, and Tim Haverland. The anglers caught 64 Yellowfin Tuna primarily on ‘Brujita’ (most commonly referring to a popular, small style of trolling lure—often pink-and-white) at the 95 Spot.
The 62-foot Viking, “Chasin’ Tail,” crewed by Captain Pepe and Mates Ramon and Dulce, also targeted Yellowfin Tuna when they headed 32 miles to the 170 Spot. Guests aboard included Chris McCall and Kari McCall from California, who caught Yellowfin Tuna ranging from 12 to 40 pounds on curry and palo.
Under clear August skies on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, calm seas and a steady 4 to 5-foot swell moved lazily across the surface. A light 3-mph breeze offered only the faintest ripple, leaving the 85°F water dominant throughout the morning. Rising air temperatures between 87 and 97°F created a distinctly summery atmosphere—ideal for anglers, boaters, and anyone enjoying the regional marine conditions.
Aboard the 35‑foot Bertram “Valerie,” Captain Orlando, and Mates Carlos and Francisco reported that their anglers—Camden Lauze, David Mannino, Frank Mannino, Hunter Mannino, Michael Mannino, and Rose Murphy—from Poway, California, caught and released two Striped Marlin weighing 80 to 90 pounds on curry and caballito at the Golden Gate Bank, and landed multiple Yellowfin Tuna in the 35 to 50‑pound class, all taken on curry at the Golden Gate, where steady surface life kept the zone productive throughout the morning.
Aboard the 35‑foot Cabo Flybridge, “Knot Workin,” Captain Abraham and Mate Cesar delivered a powerful offshore trip with their anglers landing two Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 80 and 150 pounds, taken on a mix of lures and Skipjack while working the productive waters 20 miles out on the 210. The team also released a 250‑pound Blue Marlin on a lure in the same zone, adding a notable billfish encounter to the day’s results.
Under clear skies on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, conditions remained exceptionally stable offshore—calm seas and a uniform 4-foot wave height made for a smooth trip throughout the morning. Water temperatures held between 89 and 90°F, providing seasonal warmth across the banks, while air temperatures ranged from 81 to 89°F under the bright Cabo sun. A light wind persisted without disrupting surface activity.
The “Tracy Ann,” a 31-foot Bertram, saw Captain Fernando and Mate Bryan spend the day carving steady lines across the 95 Spot. Visiting anglers Erich Krueger, Kristi Walker, and Mr. Steve Souza of Queen Creek, Arizona, kept the spread lively from the first strike onward. A bright Dorado in the 10- to 12-pound range set the tone early, taking the bait (curry) before the tuna bite took over. From there, they managed a long run of eleven Yellowfin Tuna, ranging from 20 pounds to a commanding 122-pound standout, with most driven to the Kite and others favoring curry-rigged baits. The tempo shifted again when a Sailfish rose to the bait on caballito, giving the anglers a sharp release to close out the day, defined by attentive crew work and steady action rather than a single headline moment.
The “El Cazador,” a 29‑foot Black Fin, reported steady action outside the Herradura where Captain Carmelo and Mate Luis A. found two quality Yellowfin Tuna, 37 to 97 pounds, which their anglers Austin, Logan, Ryan, Shawn, and Trina Caracoza of Huntington Beach, California, enjoyed catching during a focused Tuna outing.
Conditions offshore remained steady and inviting under clear skies on Thursday, August 13, 2026, with calm seas and a consistent 4- to 5-foot swell. An 8-mph breeze added only a light texture to the surface. The water temperature held at 85 degrees, while air temperatures climbed from 85 to 95 degrees, creating an extra-warm August environment through the afternoon, ideal for boats working the banks and ledges. It was a classic late‑summer day—bright and predictable, well‑suited for comfortable operations across the fleet.
Captain Rosendo Gomez and Mates Velez and Jose kept the cockpit tight on the 31‑foot Bertram, “Tiburón,” as they worked just outside San Jaime. The first sign of life came in the form of an 80‑pound Striped Marlin that rose to the bait and committed cleanly on a single caballito. Mindy Land, Barrett Land, and John Land of Gilbert, Arizona, were on the rods for the strike. The lucky angler caught and released the marlin as it was brought to the boat. Staying outside San Jaime Bank paid off again when a trio of Yellowfin Tuna—16, 37, and 40 pounds—hit a mix of lures and bait in the same zone, giving a well‑rounded finish to a day defined by scattered but steady opportunities beyond the structure.
The 30‑foot Bertram, “Karina,” also ran to the San Jaime Bank, where Captain Bruce and Mate Jesús W. kept the spread active for anglers Dave Brown, Paul Sakamoto, Rex Sakamoto, and Teresa Truex, who were visiting from California, yielding a steady pick of Dorado. Four fish in the 8‑ to 10‑pound class came early on curry, giving the anglers a quick start before the tuna bite developed. A run of five Yellowfin Tuna, 20 to 40 pounds, followed on a mix of lures and curry, with each strike coming off the same productive edge of the Jaime Bank. The anglers rounded out a clean, well‑paced day with consistent action across both species.
