Aboard the 31-foot Bertram, “TRACY ANN,” Captain Fernando and Mate Jesus Winkler reported a successful trip at the Herradura and surrounding waters. The trip was enjoyed by Johnny and Ana Estelle, John Philipello, and Katie Uriarte, who were visiting from Corpus Christi, Texas. It included the catch and release of one Blue Marlin weighing around 180 pounds, the release of one Striped Marlin weighing about 120 pounds, and the landing of seven Yellowfin Tuna, ranging from 10 to 78 pounds, taken on lures at the Herradura.
Captain Manuel Sr. and Mate Jr., who run the “LA CORONITA,” a40-foot Cabo Express, reported productive action at the 1150 grounds. During the outing, the fishing team, representing the Stars & Stripes Tournament from Orange County, California, included Kimberly Bill, Larrabee Alden, Larrabee Katherine, and Phillips Heidi (all listed as compradas). They raised and released two Striped Marlin in the 90- to 100-pound range, released one 60-pound Sailfish, and caught a 20-pound Dorado, all in the 1150 area.
Captain Frank and Mate Jesus operate the 28-foot Uniflite “Adriana.” During the trip on Saturday, June 27, 2026, they ran approximately 30 miles out to the 150 Spot, where they caught one Wahoo weighing 30 to 35 pounds using a feather.
On another 28-foot Uniflite, the “Andrea,” with Captain Ray Winkler and Mate Mario J. running the trip, they had two clients, anglers Amber Stein and Chris Stein from Summerville, South Carolina. They fished off Herradura near Cerro Colorado, targeting tuna, but were unsuccessful and returned empty-handed.
The 35-foot Cabo Flybridge “Bill Collector 4” had Captain JC Lopez at the helm and Mate Juan Ramon overseeing the cockpit. Anglers included Colton Hudson, Gianna Fasanella, Tasha Hudson, and Thomas Hudson from Houston, Texas, who caught two Yellowfin Tuna weighing 50 to 60 pounds using a Kite with bait. The catch occurred approximately 30 miles out at the 180 Spot.
On Sunday, June 28, 2026, weather and sea conditions were highly favorable. Skies remained clear throughout the day, and calm seas created a pleasant environment. Wave heights ranged from 4 to 5 feet, and water temperatures ranged from 81 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Air temperatures ranged from 79 to 87 degrees Fahrenheit, contributing to comfortable and stable atmospheric conditions.
The 28-foot Uniflite named “Adriana“ was run by Captain Frank and Mate Jesus. During the trip, they caught one Wahoo weighing between 30 and 35 pounds using feathers, approximately 30 miles out at the 150 Spot.
Another 28-foot Uniflite, “Andrea,“ was operated by Captain Ray Winkler and Mate Mario J. Anglers Amber Stein and Chris Stein also took part in this outing. They are from Summerville, South Carolina. The crew fished outside Herradura near Cerro Colorado, targeting tuna, but unfortunately caught nothing.
Colton Hudson, Gianna Fasanella, Tasha Hudson, and Thomas Hudson, from Houston, Texas, chartered the 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, “Bill Collector 4,“ with Captain JC Lopez and Mate Juan Ramon aboard. The Texans caught two Yellowfin Tuna weighing 50 and 60 pounds using a Kite with curry. The catch occurred around 30 miles out at 180 Spot.
On Monday, June 29, 2026, weather and sea conditions were highly favorable. Skies remained clear throughout the day, with calm seas and a moderate wave height of about 4 to 5 feet. Winds were steady at about 10 miles per hour, contributing to stable conditions. Water temperatures ranged from 81 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit, while air temperatures were notably warm, ranging from 85 to 91 degrees Fahrenheit.
Overall, the environment offered ideal conditions for outdoor and marine activities.
The 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, “Bill Collector 2,“ is operated by Captain Abel and Mate Ninja. The crew reported a productive outing with their anglers, including Annalize Hengst, Cecilia Hengst, Emma Hengst, Kathryn Hengst, Max Hengst, and William Hengst, from Houston, Texas, catching two Yellowfin Tuna weighing approximately 70 to 80 pounds using Kite fishing offshore near the Herradura area. Additionally, the anglers caught one Wahoo weighing approximately 40 to 45 pounds using a lure in the same offshore Herradura region.
Britt Hindman, Chance Freeman, Jessa Denman, Kenneth DuBose, Michael Philbrick, and Morgan Denman fished aboard the 31-foot Bertram, the “Rebecca,” with Captain Jose Ramon Alucano and Mate Marcelo on Monday. They had an excellent trip, catching five Yellowfin Tuna ranging from 20 to 70 pounds, plus a notable 95-pound Yellowfin Tuna. Techniques included Kite fishing offshore. The anglers were from Corpus Christi, Texas.
On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, weather and marine conditions were notably favorable. The skies were clear, creating a warm, pleasant atmosphere, with air temperatures ranging from 87°F to 92°F. Sea conditions were calm, characterized by moderate wave heights of approximately 4 to 5 feet and a steady wind speed of 9 miles per hour. Additionally, the water temperature registered at a comfortable 81°F, creating overall stable and agreeable conditions for marine and coastal activities.
On the 35-foot Cabo Flybridge “Bill Collector 2,” the Tuesday fishing expedition led by Captain Abel and Mate Ninja was successful. The Rubin Family anglers, Amy, Carter, Colt, and Michael, caught 5 Yellowfin Tuna weighing 6, 35, 61, 66, and 68 pounds. The crew used Kite fishing techniques alongside bait-and-lure strategies about 15 miles offshore near Cerro. Everyone had a wonderful time and contributed to the successful offshore fishing experience.
With Captain Jean Ramon and Mates Luis and Daniel serving as crew on the 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, “Bill Collector 3,” they headed about 15 miles offshore near Cerro. Their clients, Marius Scheepers, Sandra Keel, Sebastian Scheepers, and Tristan Scheepers, traveled from Kalona, British Columbia, Canada, where they landed three Yellowfin Tuna weighing about 50 to 60 pounds using Kite-fishing techniques. As skilled anglers, they contributed to a well-organized and rewarding fishing experience.
On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, environmental conditions were favorable, with clear skies and calm seas. Wave heights ranged from 4 to 5 feet, and winds were light, about 6 miles per hour. Water temperatures were between 80 and 81 degrees, while air temperatures were warm, ranging from 85 to 89 degrees Fahrenheit.
On the 66-foot Viking, “Friday Bank,” with Captain Alex and Mates Saul and Beto, a group of anglers from Wichita, Kansas, including Abiah Pryor, Ann Linck, Eliza Linck, James Harmon, Jon Pryor, Judah Pryor, Lucas Harmon, Manoah Pryor, Owen Linck, and Ruthie Gillespie, set out on an offshore fishing excursion. The Kansas anglers caught four Yellowfin Tuna, ranging from 10 to 68 pounds, using lure fishing techniques. The “Friday Bank” traveled approximately 20 miles offshore to the Herradura area, where the fish were caught under favorable conditions.
Anglers Adam Sabbath, Brooklyn Waterhouse, Nathan Sabbath, and Ryan Sabbath, all from Phoenix, Arizona, chartered the 31-foot Bertram, “TIBURON.” Captain Carlos S. Santos and Mate Orlando reported running 12 miles offshore on a 180° heading for a successful offshore fishing trip. The anglers caught and released two Blue Marlin, weighing approximately 150 and 200 pounds, both on Green/Yellow (Verde/Amarillo) lures. They also landed one 30-pound Wahoo at the 12-mile, 180° spot, caught on a red “Tigrillo” lure. The catch was impressive, and everyone left the dock tired but happy.
Thursday, July 2, 2026, promised excellent weather for sportfishing throughout Baja California Sur. Clear skies prevailed, providing outstanding visibility and comfortable conditions from sunrise through late afternoon. Seas remained calm, with wave heights of 4 to 5 feet, while gentle winds of about 5 mph made it easy for anglers to reach inshore and offshore fishing grounds. Water temperatures held steady at 80°F to 81°F, creating an ideal environment for warm-water species such as Dorado, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, and Roosterfish. Air temperatures in the 85°F to 91°F range reflected typical midsummer warmth, offering a productive day on the water.
Aboard the 31-foot Bertram “RUTHLESS,” captained by Beto Lira and Mate Velez, anglers Averee Blackmon, Brenda Blackmon, Brent Blackmon, Jordan Blackmon, Kendra Blackmon, and Nevileen Lee of Georgia enjoyed a wonderful day on the water, releasing one Striped Marlin estimated at 80 pounds. The fish was hooked while trolling a ballyhoo near the Herradura area. It provided an exciting battle for the anglers and a great sportfishing experience.
Favorable offshore conditions contributed to the catch, highlighting the continued productivity of local waters for billfish enthusiasts during the summer season.
Captain Chuy Romero and Mate Super Mario welcomed Jonathan and Marie Jackson of Brunswick, Georgia, aboard the 28-foot Uniflite, “ANDREA.” The Jacksons enjoyed an excellent inshore sportfishing trip, landing three Roosterfish weighing approximately 15, 20, and 30 pounds. All three were caught on live caballito in the waters off Casita Blanca, an area known for consistent Roosterfish action.
The variety in fish size provided exciting battles and showcased the excellent summer fishing opportunities currently available along the Baja coastline, resulting in a memorable experience for the visiting anglers.
Overall, clear weather, calm seas, light winds, and seasonably warm water temperatures created near-ideal sportfishing conditions across the Baja region, offering excellent opportunities for anglers targeting both pelagic and coastal game fish.
